The shamba is at the heart of daily life at the Sleeping Warrior. Vegetables, herbs and spices are grown on our land, alongside a small coffee farm and livestock cared for by the team. This is not about self-sufficiency as a statement — it is about respect for the land and understanding where everything comes from.
Working with nature rather than against it allows us to offer food that is fresh, honest and deeply connected to place.
From Soil to Table
Meals at the Sleeping Warrior reflect the rhythm of the shamba. Herbs are picked just before cooking, vegetables harvested according to the day’s needs, and meat sourced directly from livestock raised on the land. The result is food that feels nourishing, seasonal and unforced.
Guests often notice the difference — not because the food is elaborate, but because it is real.
Coffee Grown Here
Our coffee is grown on the land surrounding the lodge, shaped by the same climate and soil that define the valley. Served simply, often slowly, it becomes part of the daily rhythm — a quiet moment in the morning, a pause before the day unfolds.
Raised With Care
Livestock at the Sleeping Warrior is raised responsibly and respectfully on our land. This approach allows us to understand every stage of the process, ensuring quality while staying true to our values of care and stewardship.
This transparency is part of our commitment to hosting thoughtfully — nothing excessive, nothing hidden.
A Gentle Invitation
Guests are welcome to learn about the shamba during their stay — through quiet walks, informal conversations with the team, or simply by tasting what the land provides. Participation is always optional and never performative.
The shamba is not an attraction. It is part of everyday life.
